Today's inspiration for book character day was Roy Lichtenstein. He was a POP artist who raised comic book art to museum quality art! His last work of art "Ohh Really" sold for $42 million in 2013. Not too bad for a POP of primary colors and polka dots. Fun day at Five Forks!

We have started to explore three dimensional works of art! To jump start our 3D thinking students worked in collaborative small groups to create paper clip creations. The sculptures were restricted to 15 paper clips, 1 eraser, and specific measurement requirements! Check out the teamwork! Students made detailed observational drawing with pencil before adding paint to this amazing shells. Students used monochromatic values to give the shell form! Monochromatic means one color. We used white to create variations and tones of that one color! Students work in collaborative groups to create beach-inspired still-life pictures. A still life is a group of inanimate objects drawn or painted. We started with pencil and added value tones. Value is the use of light and dark within a picture to make it look realistic and give the shells, shovels, and buckets form. Coming soon...we made paintings after mastering our pencil still-life!
Art club had their first meeting and we designed FORKS! The top FIVE FORKS will be selected for the art club spirit wear t-shirt! Art club meets the last Tuesday of every month.
