Our 2nd grade students finished their owl unit with slab clay texture owls! Slabs are thin sheets of clay similar to rolling out cookies or pizza. Then we used rubber stamps to add texture. Texture is the way something feels, like the bottom of your shoes. After rolling and pinching the beak, wings, and eyes, Ms. Erickson fired or baked the clay in a special art oven, called a kiln. We added paint, feathers, wire, and googlie eyes to finish our owls. Check them out in the display cabinet in the front lobby!
The 5th grade artists finished their amazing parrot paintings. The last step of black puff paint made the art pop with contrast. Contrast is the difference between light and dark colors.
Our 1st and Kindergarten students had fun in the sun today! We created butterflies with sidewalk chalk. Butterfly wings have symmetry, where the left and right side are equal.
Check out the 2nd grade artists' owl projects. We are painting our texture slab clay owls and drawing owls with various weather systems! Can't wait for y'all to see the finished product!!!
The Dacula Public Library invited Alcova's artist to display their work in the children's book section! The art will be displayed until May! Make sure you stop by to check out the art and a fun book!!!
