The kilns are loaded and the shelves are stacked with student work! Over spring break, they will air dry. When we return let's fire up the clay! Happy week off!

March is Youth Art Month. We dedicate the month to celebrating ALL fine arts. Dance, drama, music, and visual arts are all vital to learnings. Developing creative critical thinking, teamwork, depth of knowledge, and the power of expression are all woven through the fabric of the fine arts department. As visual artists, we display work at the county Board of Education. Check out this amazing work from our Five Forks artists.
6th grade artists are putting the finishing touches on their dynamic abstract circle paintings. This unit of study works with our STEAM project-based learning study called Project H2O. Students examined water samples under microscopes, learned about artist John Sabraw who uses polluted water from the Ohio River Valley to create art, and then explored tints and shades of color to develop rich contrasting images.
This week students will take their painting and create digital images to make a water conservation poster on the computers. Stay tuned for more pictures! |
